Return to games
The original on the NES was an amazing thing if you encountered it back in the day. Then it was before games could even save. Being able to continue the game over multiple sessions was something you could only really have done on a computer game before, not something you'd expect from a game machine then. The cart was even gold. This was a special, epic quest of a game.
It made it feel large and the game had so many secrets, it all felt unknowable. It came with a map that was half filled in, and a manual that looked like manga.
The sense of mystery might be hard to appreciate when everything all has a guide and quest pointers where to go and such. It took a long time before even seeing Ganon. It was not even known what he looked like!
Later games in the series were also good.
